Computers

Journal Entry: Wed Mar 19, 2008, 5:17 PM
I really hate computers. Like, really hate them. I miss back when I was four and the worst the computer would do was stop responding, then it's ctrl-alt-delete, end program. Worst case scenario, push The Button (when I was little I took computers very seriously).

We (meaning me and computers in general) have a love-hate relationship. One that borders on bi-polar.

Right now I'm dealing with the second-crappiest laptop (don't get me started on the first-crappiest) in existence, with a mechanical failure in the mouse button which is really driving me nuts. I just accidentally selected the entire Youtube page. Grrr.

As opposed to my nice shiny new Lenovo, which is on its way back to Memphis with a dead motherboard. Roar.

I wonder if it's coincidence that the computer won't load the Homicidal mood icon.

I couldnt care less, this is an artcommunity where copyright violations is against a policy you signed for when you joined. And this isnt even about copyright for me as a person, sometimes I couldnt care less. But having a snapshot from Bleach is not art, its not even remotely funny. This isnt myspace where you upload random stuff, you upload your art and your art only. Please remove the screenshots you have not created on your own, you do have art in your gallery - stick to that.

"And in a roundabout way, that gets us back to what the Internet has wrought. For, as Mr. Lessig points out, anybody who owns a computer can now create content that is based on someone else’s creation. Indeed, we do all the time, by posting content on Facebook, on YouTube, everywhere on the Internet. If the creation of that content is deemed to be a violation of copyright, “then we have a whole generation of criminals,” said Mr. Lessig — which is terribly corrosive to society. But if it is fair use, as it ought to be, then it becomes something quite healthy — new forms of free expression and creativity."

A quote from a New York Times article titled "A Tight Grip Can Choke Creativity".

Russians are to James Bond as Nazis are to Indiana Jones. So why is Indiana Jones fighting Russians? Unless by the transitive property of Russians Indiana Jones IS James Bond.
